A Few Words
About L.A.W.N. Raleigh
Why L.A.W.N.?
Great question, we would love to tell you.
Have you ever wondered why many neighbors and neighborhoods only seem to truly come together during times of disaster? What might it feel like if a city and its people bonded through times of shared happiness instead? That’s the question L.A.W.N. Raleigh – Lawn Art With Neighbors – hopes to answer with this fun experiment in community creativity and connection.
The goal is simply to unleash the creativity of all Raleighites while connecting neighbors and brightening neighborhoods for one week this spring as we walk, roll, bike, drive, skate and scooter by. Is it random? Yes. Could it be fun? Also, yes!
The L.A.W.N. concept originated in Springfield, MO, during the pandemic to bolster mental health and community building. The L.A.W.N. movement continues to thrive as a public art opportunity that’s open to all! Find more details on L.A.W.N. Springfield here.
Join The Oaknutz for Random Fun!
L.A.W.N. Raleigh is the inaugural mission of The Oaknutz, a just-getting-started group of Raleighites who believe random fun and irrational whimsy have an important role to play in keeping fast-growing Raleigh a creative and connected place to live.
The Oaknutz name is inspired by the City of Oaks (of course), acorns (aka oaknuts) and the fact that we’re nutz about our city. If you’d like to join The Oaknutz and be part of future missions, reach out here or on Instagram @theoaknutz.
